When Lim's finally got around to installing glass in their windows instead of dark particleboard, I feared that the rest of the antiquated charm of the restaurant would be ditched in favor of exposed ventilation, glazed tile, or whatever other nonsense is currently being touted as the solution to diminishing business. Thankfully the decor remains overwhelmingly reminiscent of AMC"s Mad Men, barring updated silverware and tea cups -- now significantly larger than the ceramic shot glasses they used before! The entrees stick closely to the Americanized-Chinese standard, perhaps clocking in a bit fresher than my usual carry-out fare. If you have the luxury of being able to choose when you dine at Lim's, choose lunchtime; the combinations are much cheaper without negatively affecting the portion size too drastically and -- though my tastebuds could very well have been persuaded by the flavor of savings -- the vegetables in the various stir-fry dishes are much more vibrant and crisp. If you're a fan of the yellow chicken curry found in many Chinese restaurants, give Lim's a chance to set the dish standard like it did for me. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They're usually willing to adjust the recipes a bit if you have strong preferences for or against certain items. The language barrier can occasionally impede requests slightly but, as ubiquitous as Chinese cuisine has become in the American landscape, it's important to remember that it's still a borrowed innovation.

New owners, same great food! I've been going to Lim's for 15+ years, and the sweet & sour chicken is the best I've ever tried. Adding the windows sure did brighten up the place!

I called in for a take out and had to talk to 3 different people bc they couldn't understand all I wanted was an order of Szechuan chicken and a side of just Szechwan noodles, not the whole entree. JUST the noodles. Is it really hard to understand? Then the lady asked "how hot do you want plate" I said, very mild. Well when I got home, made 2 plates out for the hubs and I, our mouths were on fire. My hubby said did you ask for extra HOT? I said "You were standing right next to me when I made of order dummyr!" Just unsure about t going back...food was hot but yet kinda bland. The egg rolls were NOT fresh. I was really hoping this place was better based on other Yelpers comments, But my experience wasn't that great.

Again. Awesome food. They renovated almost the whole place and it is much nicer now. Also the new management is very friendly and the owner always comes and talks to me. The old owner wouldn't have done that. I will always love lims Chinese food!

Disappointing. I was hoping for a great General Tso's Cicken for lunch and decided to try Lim's. That was a mistake. I got back to work and opened the box. At first I though there was a mistake - the sauce was bright red, usually associated with sweet and sour. I asked for mediun spicy. It was not even remotely spicy. The chicken consistency was as though it was cooked the day before. Rice was dry. Stay away.

I guess this place just changed ownership and this is the first time eating here-we had take out last night- General Tso Chicken & Chicken Lo Mein and it was the best I have had in a while. While we didn't eat there, I did go inside and pick it up- nice new big windows, clean, friendly and bright. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I each ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken Lunch Combination, as well as Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was good and crispy, although it would have been better if they put the chicken separate from the sauce so that the chicken stays crispy. The chicken is moist, the fried rice is good and not doused in soy sauce like other Chinese restaurants I've tried. I'm not a huge fan of the egg roll. Crab rangoon was delicious though. Perfect pastry to filling ratio. One thing I did dislike is how rude the owner or lady at the front desk was. When I came to pick up my carryout, she gave me an attitude as if I was wasting her time. I do wish the portions were bigger. Other Chinese restaurants give a lot more than what's in the lunch combo. The box is significantly smaller than what I would get at other Chinese restaurants.

Don't be fooled, this place may look closed but they're open...... Lol, but just because they're open doesn't mean there in a rush. 15-20 minutes on a carry out really means 30 minutes, & that's when the dinning room is empty. We order the sweet n sour chicken, which is good, I like the cucumber and fresh pineapple in the sauce, smells great and is really different, which is hard to do. The egg rolls are OK, the won ton soup is great. Fresh fortune cookies and the portions are very big. not a must try, but far from dive!

The food is sub-par. Mushy chicken. The beef from the Mongolian beef was spoiled. The entry to the restaurant is quite dirty. Won't be ordering from here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
